Christmas Tree Netting

Knitted and extruded tubular netting for Christmas tree balers. Available in multiple diameters to fit standard baler rings — from small tabletop trees to large premium specimens.

The right netting makes handling easier and efficient.

Christmas tree netting is tubular mesh that compresses a tree's branches as it's pulled through a baler ring, making the tree easier to handle, transport, and display. The netting stays on the tree through retail sale and is removed by the customer at home.

Pursell Manufacturing produces both knitted and extruded polyethylene Christmas tree netting. The right choice depends on your personal preference.

Knitted vs. extruded: which is right for your operation?

Knitted Netting

Knitted netting is made from interlocked loops of polypropylene yarn. It is softer and more pliable than extruded netting, which makes it gentle on bark and needles, and easier to dispose. Most Christmas tree growers use knitted netting.

  • Soft, pliable feel — gentle on bark and needles
  • Conforms to irregular shapes
  • Available in Polypropylene
  • Runs smoothly through most baler ring styles
  • Available in multiple colors
Extruded Polyethylene

Extruded netting is formed by pushing molten polyethylene through a die to create a rigid diamond-mesh tube. It is more structured and dimensionally stable than knitted netting and holds its shape firmly under load.

  • Rigid, structured feel
  • Consistent mesh opening for uniform compression
  • Good UV resistance
  • Available in LDPE and HDPE formulations

What diameter netting do I need?

Tubular netting diameter is measured flat (the width of the tube when pressed flat), not as a circumference. Match the flat diameter to your baler ring size. The netting should be slightly smaller than the ring so it opens as the tree enters.

Baler Ring SizeRecommended Flat DiameterTypical Tree Size
18"14"–16" flatSmall trees, 3–4 ft
20"16"–18" flatMedium trees, 4–6 ft
23"18"–20" flatStandard trees, 6–7 ft
26"22"–24" flatLarge trees, 7–9 ft

These are general guidelines. Actual fit depends on tree density and branch angle. Contact a Pursell specialist to confirm the right diameter for your baler.
